ON A MISSION IN ICELAND: OUR CO-FOUNDER GIOVANNI ULFO EXPLORES NEW FRONTIERS IN CO₂ MINERALIZATION

EVENTS

CarpeCarbon’s co-founder Giovanni Ulfo has just returned from a field campaign in Iceland, carried out in collaboration with the University of Catania. During the trip, he also attended the Mineralization Summit 2024, reinforcing our commitment to permanent CO₂ storage.

We’re excited to share an important milestone in our scientific journey: Giovanni Ulfo, co-founder of CarpeCarbon and expert in geology and geochemistry, has just returned from a field mission in Iceland.

The campaign was conducted in collaboration with Professor Marco Viccaro from the University of Catania, and focused on sampling volcanic rocks to support our research into CO₂ mineralization – a natural, long-term process that transforms carbon into stable underground minerals.

While in Iceland, Giovanni also took part in the Mineralization Summit 2024 in Reykjavik, hosted by Carbfix, one of the world’s leading organizations in permanent carbon storage. The event was a valuable opportunity to engage with other experts and organizations working on scalable, safe CO₂ removal solutions.

Over the coming months, Giovanni will carry out additional measurements and analyses to strengthen the scientific foundation of the mineralization pathways CarpeCarbon is investing in.

One step closer to a carbon-negative future. ??
